A juice a day

Anya Jensen16th January 2017

Healthy living, and looking after your body is a trend that is here to stay. In Denmark, buying organic food, is a trend on the rise, as we believe that looking after the planet, the animals and ourselves is a positive thing. In Denmark, most people love cakes, candy, and snacks as much as the next person, but we try to limit our snacking to the weekend.

I believe that even a simple task like juicing can be hyggelig. Picking the right ripe fruit. Cutting the fruit, and getting the children to help pop it through the juicer. They think it is fun that the fruit turns into juice, and it is also important to me that they know where the ingredients come from, how they taste, etc.

Getting your 5-a-day can be difficult if you are not a fan of fruit or veg. In this house, luckily we love both – and we are also very fond of juicing. I have found the cutest small bottles in the shop, so I make juice and give the girls something to bring for their lunch at school. In Denmark, kids bring packed lunches, as not many schools offer school meals.

Today, I fancied sharing 2 of my healthiest and yummiest juices. I haven’t got a slow juicer (yet) but the one I have is more than adequate to make delicious juices. I tend to start my day off with one, it is rather filling and very tasty.
juicing
Ingredients:
Spicy ginger juice:
Ginger and lemon compliments one another very well. Here I have added some more ingredients, to make it suitable for the children. This juice has a kick to it, but not an unpleasant one.
3 oranges
1 lemon
2 x 2 inch bit of peeled ginger
3 apples
2 carrots
Pop it all in the juicer and juice it. I like to drink it fresh, but it can keep for 2 days in the refrigerator. I also like mine a bit gingery, so I might add some more ginger if it doesn’t ‘kick’ enough. But do be careful, and taste as you go along. Also, remember if you keep it in the fridge, it will only get spicier!
Beetroot, orange, and apple juice:
These ingredients work well together and give you a juice that is very healthy. If you are not too fond of the taste of beetroot, only use one, as the flavour can be quite overpowering.
2 apples
2 oranges
1(2) small beetroots peeled
1 x 1 slice of ginger (optional)
Again pop it all in the juicer, and go for it! This juice is cleansing and will do your gut and liver a world of favours. Yummy and healthy is a recipe for success.
I have many more recipes I use and much more for the smoothie machine. I can’t wait to share these with you.

It’s helpful but when should we drink it?

I like juicer more and more each day because it makes my life a lot easier. The Spicy ginger juice sounds great! I worked with many juicers and from my experience I can say that if the juicer machine is not good the quality of the juice might suffer.
