Royal Copenhagen Christmas tables.

Anya Jensen20th December 2017

Every year for the last 6 years at least we have visited the stunning Royal Copenhagen Christmas tables. It is a spectacle I have gotten used to, and we always enjoy our trips to the stunning Royal Copenhagen Flagship store.

YOU SEE, EVERY YEAR SINCE 1963, ROYAL COPENHAGEN HAS ASKED PROMINENT ARTISTS AND CELEBRITIES TO SET THE CHRISTMAS TABLES IN THEIR ROYAL COPENHAGEN FLAGSHIP STORE ON STRØGET IN COPENHAGEN. SIX DIFFERENT TABLES ALL TELL AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT STORY. MORE THAN 200.000 PEOPLE VISIT THE EXHIBITION EVERY YEAR, TO BROWSE AND COLLECT INSPIRATION FOR THEIR OWN CHRISTMAS TABLES.

This year was no different – we have of course become masters of viewing the Christmas tables, and we always go when they open the exhibition, and quite often literally when the store opens in the morning. Why? Well, because it is nice to be able to walk around and take it all in, without having to shuffle around if there are too many people – well, my tip for you anyway 😉

This year it was The Royal Danish Ballet who had the honour of being asked. We L O V E the ballet. We have only ever been and seen an open house performance, but one year I will get tickets for the Nutcracker – a great big dream of ours.

But the tables were equally as stunning and different as all of the ballet dancers and crew. I loved the different interpretations of the traditional Xmas table. Amazing and versatile – just like the amazing art that ballet is.

I can – as always – thoroughly recommend coming along. This year the exhibition closes on the 31/12-17.

I love the beauty of the simplicity. We Americans tend to subscribe to the idea that more is better and over the top is best.

These tables are amazing, my husband’s Great Grandfather was from Bornholm so we have inherited all sorts of Danish things. My mother in law was recently getting rid of some Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates so i offered to give them a good home.
