Instagram kids

The other day I had seen some adorable cakes at the bakery that I wanted to get the children for a treat. We went for a walk, took the children there, so they could pick which one they wanted. We then went home, popped the cakes on plates for them, and they were ever so excited and ready to tuck in, but ….. What does an Instagram mad blogger Mum do? She says ‘Hold on a minute, I just need a few snaps of these before you tuck in’.

Holly rolled her eyes and said with dismay: “Pictures, pictures, pictures” and shook her head. It was quite hilarious and made me laugh out loud, but it also made me think about how much stuff I photograph!

We have all become addicted to photographing events; our morning coffee, flowers in the field, kids in cute outfits, and yummy food we eat. It is quite funny if you go to a restaurant; try and notice how many people are photographing their food. Our children are also exposed to our sharing, and I made them a promise a long time ago, that I’d never post anything they didn’t approve of. I am sure there will be a day, where they want their private lives to remain private, and I will respect that! This particular issue is being shared on social media att the moment, with posts about the ‘Instagram’ husband, as well as pictures of people at big events, looking at the event, rather than ‘at the event’ – through a phone camera.

What is your view on the topic? Do you think we have become obsessed with capturing the moment – rather than enjoying the moment? Do you take pictures of everything, including yourself and share it on social media?

In the meantime, I will probably certainly keep posting pictures of everything I find interesting. Regarding pictures of the girls, I am adapting to a theory of less is more, and these days I only share the ones I love most.
