FRILANDSMUSEET Denmark

Anya Jensen13th June 2017
Every year our extended family meet for the annual summer picnic at the FRILANDS MUSEUM – ‘The Open Air Museum’, just outside Copenhagen.

It is a stunning place, and it feels like you enter a different world of rural architecture, buildings, artifacts, and farm animals,  which gives you a good get a good insight as to how the Danish people lived more the 100 years ago. It is great fun for children and adults alike to have a look at old houses, where people slept, how they cooked their dinners and much more. The museum also has many small animals grazing on the grounds, which also adds to the experience.

The place is vast, and many people bring a picnic. There is a large cafe area in the middle with benches, and a cafe and a place for the little ones to splash around in the small fountain. The whole place oozes HYGGE, so you get a bit of everything if you take the family here.  You can rent small carts (if you come in good time) and even go by horse and carriage around the museum.

I would recommend it for anyone visiting Copenhagen. It is a great day to spend outside, running through the fields, relaxing on the grass with a picnic, and taking it all in.
